Drop 5 Foods, Drop 5 Pounds

As Dr. Ann Wigmore, naturopath and founder of Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute, once said “the food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison”.

If you feel like you’re eating “healthy”, yet struggling to lose weight, clear your skin, regulate your bowels or keep your mood balanced throughout the day, it’s time to look at the TYPES of food you are eating.

Since food is our fuel, what you put IN is what you get OUT. It’s not just about calories. What’s more important is the SOURCE of those calories. Calories, which are simply units of energy, that come from junky “health” bars, powders and prepackaged meals will not yield the same results as real, wholesome, fresh foods coming from Mother Nature.

  1. Gluten - according to Dr. Tom O’Brien of the Autoimmune Fix, up to 70% of people are unable to digest gluten, the protein component of wheat, rye, barley and triticale. Not only is wheat heavily-sprayed with glyphosate, but its also proven to increase intestinal permeability, otherwise known as “leaky gut”.

  2. Dairy - highly correlated with skin irritation, the removal of dairy can quickly alleviate sinus congestion, seasonal allergies, puffy eyes, stomach cramping and constipation.

Soy is an endocrine disruptor. Acting as an estrogen mimicker, soy also blocks the conversion of inactive to active thyroid hormone. Why should you care? The thyroid gland regulates your metabolism!

  4. Corn - up to 90% of American corn is GMO! From popcorn to corn-on-the-cob, this food is highly reactive, thus creating inflammation that drives fluid retention that can easily present as “weight gain” on the scale.

  5. Sugar - highly inflammatory, acidic and addictive, this substance alone is responsible for, or at least a contributing factor to nearly all aches, pains, illness and disease.
